Many different industries are featured at a job fair organized by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission at the River Spirit Expo Center on the exhibition grounds near 21st and Yale.

The organizers said the show comes at a time when many employers are looking to fill vacancies.

OECD Director Shelley Zumwalt said the careers fair is also in time as unemployment benefits run out this weekend. She said there will be opportunities for people with a variety of educational opportunities, from a GED to a Masters degree.

Participating companies include Amazon, Tyson, the United States Postal Service, and the Tulsa Federal Credit Union. Zumwalt said nearly 200,000 Oklahomans are eligible and currently unemployed, but the market is to their advantage with so many companies hiring.

“I think the further we get away from the pandemic, the more these positions will be filled,” said Zumwalt. “I would encourage anyone looking for a new job or position in any other area that is a really great time now and has lots of opportunity.”

Doors for the event open at 8:30 a.m. for veterans and 9 a.m. for everyone else. The fair ends at 4 p.m.

A personal event is also scheduled for Friday in Oklahoma City. More about this and a virtual trade fair option, CLICK HERE
