Mahli Mechenbier will present “Making an Impact in Everyday Spaces: Active Personal Decisions and Workplace Management” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast, which will be held in person on the Geauga campus at Kent State University in Burton.

Breakfast and networking start at 7.30 a.m. Free and open to the public.

Trunk sale

The United Methodist Women of Chardon United Methodist Church is holding a trunk sale in the church parking lot at 515 North St. in Chardon. All are welcome. Admission is free.

FGP Explorers series

October 2, 10:30 a.m.

Join the Foundation for Geauga Parks Trustees and a park naturalist to explore the trails in Orchard Hills Park, 11340 Caves Road in Chester Township, in search of fall colors and wildflowers.

Pre-registration is not required. Meet at the Pond Shelter. Bring water, binoculars, and cameras if you wish.

Farewell to the Ledgemont School

October 14, 5 pm-9pm

Join in on one final communal walking tour of Ledgemont School. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. there will be a silent auction of all trophies and class pictures. The proceeds will go to the Berkshire Educational Foundation, which is currently raising funds for new sports facilities.

A food truck will be on site and there will be a campfire in the field next to the school. The time capsule opens at 6 p.m.

Autumn festival

Oct. 2, 7-9 p.m.

The Fall Festival takes place in historic Chardon Square. The evening includes hot dogs and cider, s’mores, scarecrow making, balloon artists, live music, and face painting.

The event is sponsored by the City of Chardon with support from the Chardon Rotary Club, Chardon Area Kiwanis, and the Chardon Square Association.

Chardon Area Kiwanis will lead the scarecrow project. Kiwanis is giving away a gift card for the three best scarecrows in Chardon. To enter a scarecrow, before October 9th, snap a photo of your creation standing or sitting on the porch and text them to 440-796-6477. The gift cards will be delivered after the event.

Geauga Skywatchers Club

Join Skywatchers for Moonstruck at the Bainbridge Public Library. Learn how and when to see the moon best, why people return to the moon, and where to find the man on the moon.

Yoga classes for beginners

Sign up for beginner yoga classes at Chardon VFW, 752 Water St. Students should bring a yoga mat and a water bottle.

Flying Club hosts exchange meetings

Oct 9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Geauga Radio Controlaires Club is hosting the 10th Annual Radio Model Exchange Meeting at the Willo-Hill Baptist Church School Gym, 4200 State Route 306, Willoughby.

The event offers 77 exhibitor tables with items for sale, barter and exchange from regional model makers.

There will be an auction of new aircraft and equipment at 12:30 p.m.

The event is public. Entry is $ 5. Young people up to 11 years are free. There will be warm food. Parking is free.

The proceeds will support the RC flight training program and the maintenance of the Burton airfield.

Apple butter festival

October 9 and 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual Apple Butter Festival returns to the grounds of the Century Village Museum in Burton. In addition to making the company’s own apple butter products in cast iron kettles and watching giant kites fly, there will be music, vendors, food and family fun. Historic buildings and artisans will be open for viewing.

The Burton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a fall festival weekend in Burton Square. Fun for all ages, enjoy live music, food and vendors. Maple stirs in the Burton Log Cabin from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

American Legion roast pork

Oct. 9, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Newbury American Legion Post 663 holds its annual Roast Pork Dinner and Homemade Cake Auction at the Post Office at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Tickets are priced at $ 12 or $ 15 at the box office.

FOW Amish wedding dinner

The Friends of WomenSafe’s annual Amish Wedding Dinner takes place at Mary Miller’s home at 13301 Princeton Road in Middlefield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m.

Dinner is $ 35 for adults and $ 20 for children under 10 years of age. The event includes a raffle for gift cards.
