History of the Bald Eagle at the Ten Mile River Scout Museum
NARROWSBURG, NY – The Ten Mile River Scout Museum is hosting a video presentation of the American Bald Eagle and its comeback in the Delaware River Valley on Tuesday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m. on the museum grounds. The presentation will be carried out by the National Park Service ranger Susie Kaspar.

Homesteading and crafts from the chicken librarian
STARLIGHT, PA – Kristin White, the chicken librarian and writer for The River Reporter’s Our Country Home magazine, will be teaching her fall homesteading classes starting August 21. All courses take place on their homestead in Starlight and start at 10 a.m.

Natural history and kitchen tips at PEEC
DINGMANS FERRY, PA – Learn about local natural history at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in Dingmans Ferry on Saturday, August 14th at 1pm. Paul Kovalski, known as Dr. Dinosaur, leads a hike on the PEEC campus. The event is free for PEEC members and costs $ 5 for non-members.
On Sunday, August 15th, PEEC will host a cooking class with chef Erin Taylor. Participants learn basic cooking and craft skills. The course starts at 1:00 p.m. and there is a $ 10 fee.

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY – The Firehouse Book Sale runs Thursday, August 12th through Sunday, August 15th.

Heavy MeNtal music at the Rock Valley Schoolhouse
ROCK VALLEY, NY – Neuroscientist Joseph LeDoux and singer / songwriter / storyteller Colin Dempsey perform as So We Are, also known as the Acoustic Amygdaloids, at the Rock Valley Schoolhouse on Sunday, August 15 at 4 p.m. Music will be from their Heavy MeNtal catalog, and LeDoux will provide interspersed commentary on the brain and mind.

‘Young Frankenstein’ in the Rivoli Theater
SOUTH FALLSBURG – The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will present Young Frankenstein at the Rivoli Theater in South Fallsburg in August.
Evening shows on Friday and Saturday, August 13 and 14, August 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. Afternoon shows on Sunday, August 15 and 22 at 2 p.m.

Biodiversity Jam in Honesdale
HONESDALE, PA – The Pike Wayne Conservation Partnership is hosting a night of drinks, food, and discussion about the plants and animals that live in our world.
The program takes place on Thursday, August 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the adjoining room of the Here & Now Brewing Company in Honesdale.
The members of the partnership will give short presentations on biodiversity in our region.
The Biodiversity Jam is the first in a series of Science on Tap programs that will run through fall 2021.
The Pike Wayne Conservation Partnership is made up of local conservation organizations: the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, the State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Keystone Clean Water Team, the Lacawac Sanctuary, and more.

Live music and dance at the EB Crawford Public Library
MONTICELLO, NY – EB Crawford Public Library will be welcoming entertainer Chuck James with companion Leon Hilfstein on Monday, August 16 at 6:00 p.m.
Flamenco dancer and choreographer Juana Cala will perform on Wednesday 18th August at 6pm. The show will also feature flamenco singer Mario Rincon and flamenco guitarist Greg Melnick. The rain date is Wednesday, August 25th.
The duo Fisher and Kean will perform on Thursday, August 19 at 6 p.m. Deborah Anne Fisher and Paul Kean will play songs from their new album “Pure Local Honey”. The rain date is Thursday, August 26th.

Joel Hill Sawmill opens for tours
LOOKOUT, PA – The 150-year-old Joel Hill Sawmill will open for tours on Saturday August 13th and Sunday August 14th. Both days start at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The number of participants is limited to 18 people per tour.
The tours are free, but donations are welcome.
The Cleveland Museum next door is also open and shows industrial facilities from the early 20th century.

‘An Evening of Chamber Music’ in Shandelee
SHANDELEE, NY – The Sunset Concert Series continues with three new performances.
The Ulysses String Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 12th. The music is played by Haydn, Schubert and Tailleferre.
On Saturday, August 14th, the Neave Trio will play the music of Rachmaninov, Ravel and Brahms.
And on Tuesday, August 17th, Steven Lin will play works by Scarlatti, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy and Liszt.
All concerts take place in the fully accessible, air-conditioned Sunset Concert Pavilion of the Shandelee Music Festival in Livingston Manor.

Summer Vibes weekend at Harmony in the Woods
HAWLEY, PA – J. Robert Spencer will perform outdoors at Harmony in the Woods on Friday, August 13th. Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers will follow on Saturday, August 14th.
The music ranges from Broadway to funk to Americana groove and soul.
On Friday, Spencer will play radio and Broadway songs on his show “7,000 Miles to Broadway”. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. and opens at 5:00 p.m.
On Saturday it’s the turn of Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers, a “6-piece soul, Americana groove, funk and pop band,” says Jill Carletti from Harmony in the Woods. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. and opens at 5:00 p.m.
Tickets for the performances cost $ 25 or $ 35, depending on the seat you choose; Guests are encouraged to bring their own refreshments and drinks from local restaurants.
