The Sedgwick County Zoo is one of Wichita’s greatest attractions. With the large enclosures, educational zookeeper chats, a wide variety of animals (including many rare and critically endangered species), and more, it’s a fun outing for the whole family!

The Sedgwick County Zoo offers a variety of free and discounted days year round. Here is a list of the expected Zoo discount days for the coming year.

As we have learned on a large scale lately, events sometimes need to be canceled or changed. The prices of these events can also change without prior notice and at any time. We always try to let you know about the fun things the zoo has planned and we try very hard to be specific about everything but the best place for that latest Information is available on the zoo website itself (scz.org).

Please note: Since plans can change at short notice, be sure to use the links in each post to check out all of the events before you leave.

Sedgwick County Zoo ticket prices

These are the regular entrance fees to the Sedgwick County Zoo (i.e., no discounts). Be sure to check the zoo’s website before you visit, as ticket prices can change at any time.

Infants (0–2 years): FREE
Children (3-11 years old): USD 15 / person
Adults (12–61 years old): USD 20 / person
Seniors (62 years and older): USD 15 / person

Wichita Explore Card: Save $ 2 on entry

Use the FREE Wichita Explore Card to save $ 2 off regular entry to the zoo. Check out the full list of other participating Wichita Explore Card attractions.

RecycleBank BOGO entry voucher

If you’re a member of RecycleBank, you may still be able to receive this voucher for the Wichita Zoo. I can still find it online but the ticket The price shown here is out of date; Therefore, I am not entirely sure whether this voucher is still valid. However, if you are already earning RecycleBank Rewards, you might as well give it a try!

Wichita Entertainment App BOGO voucher

The printed Entertainment Coupon Books are officially gone, but many, if not all, of the coupons are still available online at Entertainment.com or through the app. Entertainment vouchers are generally good for BOGO entry to Wichita attractions.

If you want to visit the zoo regularly all year round, membership can save you money. For my family, after we visit the zoo 3 times a year, the subsequent visits with our membership are “free”.

Pro tip: Check with your employer before purchasing a zoo membership. Some local employers offer discounted membership rates to the zoo and other local attractions.

  • Single plus: For $ 110, membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Includes free entry for two named adults who live in the same household, or one named adult and one guest per day.
  • Senior Plus: For $ 80, membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Includes free entry for two named adults aged 62 and over who live in the same household, or one named adult aged 62 and over and one guest per day.
  • Family (formerly household or grandparent): For $ 160, membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Includes free entry for two named adults living in the same household and their children or grandchildren under 21 years of age. Grandchildren under the age of 21 are allowed when accompanied by a grandparent.
  • Family Plus (formerly Household Plus or Grandparents Plus): For $ 180, membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Includes free entry for two named adults living in the same household and their children or grandchildren under 21 years of age. Grandchildren under the age of 21 are allowed when accompanied by a grandparent. Plus an additional guest with each visit accompanied by the member.
  • Family Plus Two (formerly sponsor): For $ 230, membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase. Includes free entry for two named adults living in the same household and their children or grandchildren under 21 years of age. Grandchildren under the age of 21 are allowed when accompanied by a grandparent. In addition, two additional guests come accompanied by the member.

In addition to unlimited visits, zoo members receive some extra perks such as early admission every day, discounts on the zoo’s function rooms, courses and a few other events, a monthly e-newsletter to remind you of upcoming programs and events, an annual wall calendar, and more.

Depending on the membership level you choose, you may receive free guest cards that allow you to bring one or two guests with you on each visit.

Mutual zoo entry program

The Sedgwick County Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). This means that with a membership in Sedgwick County Zoo you get free or discounted entry to other AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums that participate in the AZA Reciprocal Admissions Program. A full list of participating zoos can be found on the AZA website. It’s also always a good idea to call ahead so there aren’t any surprises upon arrival.

Year-round discounted zoo courses and special events

  • Dead Tuesdays: The SCZ’s Cargill Learning Center offers educational programs every fourth Tuesday. (free with membership or regular zoo entry)
  • Wheeling Wild Tuesdays: Ride a bike in the zoo every 3rd Tuesday of the month through October. $ 5 per person ($ 4 for members).
  • Seniors Wednesday (55+): Every 2nd Wednesday. $ 4 fee. (Does not include admission to the zoo.)
  • Flocktails (21+): Every 4th Thursday. Enjoy court games, live entertainment, food and drink at these after-hour events from April through September. Tickets are $ 10 / person * and can be purchased in advance or at the box office. * Drink prices are not included in the admission price.

December discounts

The Sedgwick County Zoo usually offers some sort of vacation membership bonus when you buy a membership in December. (Think gift ideas with no toys.) For example, in 2018 they offered 3 additional months when purchasing a membership. They also offered half the admission price from December 14th to 31st, 2018. As soon as we know, we’ll tell you what the December Member Bonus is.
