Best Indian Web Hosting Providers 2021

Choosing the right web hosting package is crucial to ensure that your website is working properly and can handle visitors.

Shared hosting is one of the most common and popular hosting packages. With such a setup, the resources of a single server are divided among several users. The obvious advantage of such a setup is the low cost, but it comes at the expense of the performance of your own website. The large demand on the server’s resources also means more downtime and other problems. For this reason, shared hosting is preferred for personal websites only.

At the other end of the spectrum are virtual private servers (VPS) and dedicated server hosting. A VPS server also hosts many different clients, but uses hypervisor technology to simulate an environment where each client is on a uniquely dedicated computer. Hypervisor technology also allows VPS clients to borrow resources from one another so that clients who need more resources are reassigned resources from other clients who are not using their assigned resource allocation. In this way, a VPS hosting guarantees the availability of resources and thus the performance that is not possible with a shared hosting server.

Even after deciding on the type of hosting that best suits your needs, you still have to choose a hosting provider, which itself depends on a number of different factors including the features bundled, prices, reliability, and more . After all, you don’t want to serve a website that is inaccessible to visitors or frustratingly slow.

Because of this, we have narrowed down five of the best hosting providers in India.

In addition to shared hosting, you can also opt for dedicated, VPS or cloud hosting with BigRock. You can also explore their WordPress hosting plans and even deploy Joomla, Drupal, etc. with a single one. The hosting provider promises an availability of 99.9% with dedicated technical CMS support.

With all hosting packages you can choose the location of your data center, whether India or USA. According to its own information, the Indian server’s latency is 30x lower than its US counterpart, which explains the stark price difference between the two.

Starter’s shared hosting plan can be used to host a single website and includes a free SSL certificate, five email accounts, 20 GB of storage and 100 GB of transfer for the price of Rs. 139 / month (approx , $ 90) if you choose the five-year subscription. You can opt for a shorter contract length, but the prices get steeper. On the other hand, if you go for the US based server, you will have to spend Rs. 99 / month (about $ 1.35) for the five-year contract with the same specifications.

The Shared Hosting Plan Pro, which allows hosting an unlimited number of websites, costs Rs. 389 / month (about $ 5.30) and does not include metered space and bandwidth. However, you should be aware that BigRock will throttle your bandwidth if your usage exceeds 25% of server resources for more than 90 seconds and you ignore the hosting provider’s warning messages.

If you want anti-malware protection or daily backups, you’ll need to purchase them as separate add-ons, and there are different plans for each. In addition to BigRock and HostGator, Bluehost is also part of the Endurance International Group (EIG). These three companies have made great strides in the Indian hosting space that has been dominated by GoDaddy.

The services offered are shared, VPS and dedicated hosting. There are four shared hosting plans on offer, with the basic plan costing Rs. 175 / month for a 3 year contract (about $ 2.40). Although expensive, the plan includes 50 GB of SSD storage, 25 sub-domains, an automatic daily malware scanner, free BlueHost SEO tools, and a free SSL certificate.

The more expensive shared hosting plans offer additional freebies like domain privacy, unmeasured storage, and bandwidth. Free daily website backups are only offered as part of the ChoicePlus and Pro plans, which are priced at Rs. 299 / month (approx. 4.10) and Rs. 859 / month (approx. $ 11.76 USD). Other than that, you need to purchase CDN separately as a premium add-on. All shared hosting plans include a drag-and-drop website builder, though it’s unclear whether it will limit the number of pages, as most hosting providers do.

GoDaddy India

5. GoDaddy

One of the oldest hosting providers in India

Reasons to buy

+Data centers in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific+24/7 phone support +Linux and Windows hosting +Large number of hosting solutions and plans

Reasons to avoid

No live chatLack of transparency in some plans

Both GoDaddy and HostGator started operating in India in 2012 but we will focus on the former as we have already covered BigRock and Bluehost which, like HostGator, are part of the Endurance International Group. In fact, HostGator offers almost identical plans to BigRock, but is a little more expensive, which is another reason we want to focus on an alternative.

GoDaddy offers a range of shared hosting plans and a free domain name when you get a 12 month contract. You can also opt for WordPress hosting or the ecommerce hosting plan which uses WooCommerce and includes 75 premium extensions to help you get the most out of your online store. All of the expensive plans like WooCommerce or the top notch shared hosting plans also come with free professional email for the first year.

The shared hosting plan starts at Rs. 99 / month but only offers 512MB of RAM and allows for a single website to be served. The other two plans priced at Rs. 199 / month and Rs. 299 / month don’t mention the amount of RAM. If you want higher processing power that isn’t defined by GoDaddy, you can go for the Ultimate plan, which is geared towards high traffic websites. Priced at Rs. 449 / month, this plan lets you host 25 websites and offers 75 GB of storage. Unlike most other hosting providers, GoDaddy doesn’t explicitly mention whether it uses SSD or HDD drives.

The lack of data centers in India could put some customers off, especially if BigRock, Bluehost, and HostGator all offer competitive pricing and data centers in Mumbai.
