Working in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula! is hosting a Clean Slate UP deletion event

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – UP Michigan Works! is hosting a Clean Slate UP Conviction Expungement Jumpstart Event on Wednesday, March 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at their office at 1498 O’Dovero Drive in Marquette.

Eligible individuals with a Michigan conviction for which they are seeking cancellation are invited to join UP Michigan Works! at their upcoming Conviction Expungement Jumpstart Event.

This free event is an opportunity to meet Clean Slate UP navigators and advocates to complete the initial stages of the erasure process, including fingerprinting, learn more about the process and find out what’s next.

“Events like this give people another chance,” said Seth Harris, communications coordinator at UP Michigan Works! “We can help them overcome barriers to employment, housing and other services by guiding them through the erasure process.”

To be eligible for Clean Slate, you must be a person with a conviction in the state of Michigan and be over 18 years of age. It is not limited to Marquette County convictions.

The official taking of fingerprints for the deletion request is free of charge for event participants. The Michigan State Deletion Request fee will also be covered for all eligible participants. Michigan works! provides information, including guidance on what to do and what to expect next, and helps individuals complete the initial stages of the erasure process.

Learn more about these services and more targeted employee programs by calling your local UP Michigan Works! Office at 1-800-285-WORK (9675).

Participants should bring a valid driver’s license or ID card.
