McNeese, Southeastern hosts week one of the Southland Conference Baseball Tournament – Crescent City Sports

FRISCO, Texas – McNeese won the 2022 Southland Conference baseball regular season championship and will be the top seed in the May 19-22 Southland tournament. The Cowboys will be one of two hosts in the first weekend of double-elimination tournament play, with the No. 2 seed Southeastern hosting the bottom half of the bracket.

All games will be streamed live on ESPN+.

McNeese (30-21, 15-9 SLC) secured the top seed after a three-game sweep against HBU over the weekend. The Cowboys are the tournament’s defending champions, having entered the 2021 event as No. 7. McNeese meets UIW (19-29, 9-15 SLC) at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, May 19 at Joe Miller Ballpark. McNeese also defeated the Cardinals in the regular season last month. Lake Charles’ early game will feature a matchup between Nicholls (25-22, 12-12 SLU) and Northwestern State (25-26, 12-12). The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Colonels won two of three regular-season tournaments at Thibodaux.

Southeastern (24-27, 14-10 SLC) will enter the tournament as No. 2, taking on No. 7 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (26-26, 10-14). The playing times mirror those of the other side, so these two teams start at 18:00 -13) at 13:00. The teams met during the regular season, with the Privateers winning two out of three from April 1-3.

The two teams progressing in the first weekend will meet in a best two-of-three series from May 26-28 at the venue of the highest remaining seeding. The winner will receive automatic Southland participation in the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Both sites offer an all-tournament pass (minimum 6 games, maximum 7) for $75 for adults and $40 for youth ages 3-12. Children under the age of two received free entry. Single game tickets will also be available for $15 for adults and $10 for youth. Students at a Southland Conference institution may also attend for free upon presentation of valid school ID.
