What to do in Sacramento this weekend: June 8th – June 10th

Hot temperatures aside, this weekend is a great opportunity to soak up the summer sun.

Temperatures will be in the 90s on Friday and Saturday, followed by 100 degrees on Sunday. So if you head out, make sure you pack sunscreen and water as well.

Here’s what’s happening this weekend, June 8-10, in the Sacramento area:

Friday

Watch a moonlight comedy show

3020 Renwick Avenue, Elk Grove

comedy under the stars, hosted by Cosumnes Community Services District, presents its second night at Elk Grove. From 8pm to 9.30pm you can watch some star gazing, have a picnic or both.

Friday’s headliners include Emily Van Dyke, Justin Lucas and Marc Yaffee, according to the district website.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and there will be no food vendors. Tickets are $15 if you register early online, by calling (916) 405-5600 or at the Cosumnes CSD registration desks. It’s $18 at the door.

Take the weekend train

125 I Street, Sacramento

Hosted by the California State Railroad Museum and Foundation Train rides on the weekends with the Sacramento Southern Railroad. The train will take you six miles through the levees of the Sacramento River, according to the museum’s website.

Guests can ride in the carriages or open-air gondolas. This is an ongoing event with dates scattered through September.

You have the option to ride in a carriage or first class General admission from $15 and $25 for adultsrespectively.

Saturday

Go for a walk in nature

2140 Chase, Rancho Cordova

See what nature has to offer in Sacramento Soil Born Farms’ Nature Lover’s Walk. Naturalist Cliff Hawley will guide you through the hike while you explore different plants, birds, and insects in the area, according to the organization’s website.

Tickets cost $15.

Sunday

Get some booze and some books

5090 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento

The Wild Sisters Book Company hosts a leap into the past with a book fair, but there’s a twist. It is taster book fair offers classic children’s literature, knick-knacks and drinks for adults.

The event, which starts at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., is free for all ages, according to the statement the Facebook event page.

K Street, Sacramento

The Downtown Partnership and Old Sacramento come together to “Second Sunday brunch market‘, a pop-up brunch every other Sunday from June to October.

Local restaurants offer brunch and mimosas, live music and events hosted by local businesses. According to the Eventbrite page, K Street will be closed for the event.
