What is there for families and children to do in Harrogate District this October semester?

But half term can also be a stressful time for parents and caregivers who have to keep little ones entertained for a week.

There’s also plenty to do on Halloween on October 31, whether it’s pumpkin picking or a spooky trail.

To make it a little easier, here is a list of activities to do throughout the region this semester…

During this semester in October there are many activities taking place throughout the Harrogate district

Birchfield Farm Pumpkin Festival

The Pumpkin Festival takes place at Birchfield Family Dairies in Summerbridge and runs until October 31st.

They do not charge entry to the pumpkin patch as you only pay for what you pick and prices for pumpkins range from £1 to £12.

However if you would like to visit the farm animals, activities, corn maze and carving barn it costs £5.95 per person, children under 2 years old are free.

Reservations are not required as you can just walk in and are open 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm.

Spooky Castle Spooky Halloween Trail

The new Creepy Castle Spooktastic Halloween Trail arrives at Knaresborough Castle this half term.

Along the way, see magic shows, spooky characters, face painting, castle stories, and more spooky surprises.

Tickets are just £3.75 per person, children under 2 go free and are available from 3pm to 8pm from 27th to 29th October.

With breathtaking rides and fantastic bouncy castles for all ages, the Harrogate Indoor Funfair returns to the Yorkshire Event Center from 22nd to 30th October.

It takes place in three-hour sessions – from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm. Tickets are £12.99 when booked online or £14.99 at the box office.

Enjoy the magic of Halloween this fall semester with thousands of pumpkins to pick at Stockeld Park.

From October 22nd to 30th it’s the perfect family outing and every child with a paid ticket gets to choose their pumpkin for free.

There are also plenty of activities including being able to explore their enchanted forest, take part in their magical maze and more.

Mama Doreen’s Emporium Halloween Afternoon Tea

Mama Dooreen’s Emporium in Harrogate is hosting a spooky Halloween afternoon tea from 21st to 31st October.

It’s a very popular treat during the October holidays, so booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment.

It costs £29.95 per adult, £19.95 per senior and £15 per child, with plenty of savory and sweet delights on offer.

Halloween mumbo-jumbo at Mother Shipton

Get brooms and wands ready when you visit Mother Shipton this term.

Venture deep into the spooky forest when you enter the Haunted Halloween Village and also visit the Wicked Wishing Well.

A terribly fun Halloween at Stump Cross Caverns

There’s a lot going on at Stump Cross Caverns this semester.

From October 21st to 30th, a spooky cave tour with Cavewoman every day at 11am.

Their fossil and gem digs are very popular and for Halloween there is a terribly fun program for everyone to enjoy.

There is also a costume Halloween party from 5pm to 6pm every day during the semester.

Pumpkins are popping up all over Ripon and you are invited to find them for a chance to win one of three cash prizes.

There is also a series of free magic shows at the Curzon Cinema with prizes for the most mesmerizing outfit.

Mercer Gallery: Family Art Workshops

Get creative during half term at one of the family’s art workshops at the Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate.

Discover techniques such as decoupage, collage and illustration where children create their own works of art to take home.

The workshop is suitable for children of all ages and costs just £3 per child.

Deadliest plants and bugs at RHS Harlow Carr

This semester, visit the RHS Garden Harlow Carr and discover the clever creepy-crawlies and super-smart plants that fight back.

With lots of fun hands-on activities for the whole family, find out how plants and insects from cacti to centipedes use fangs, spines, spines and slime to defend themselves and their habitats.

Halftime Halloween Activities at Harrogate Library

There are many spooky activities to get involved in at Harrogate Library during half term, including a family treasure hunt, a brick or acid Lego workshop, spooky junk modeling and more.

Activities start at just £2, with most of them being free.
