“OnlyFans hit rough water in 2021 when it announced and then returned a plan to ban the sexually explicit content the subscription-based social platform was increasingly known for. When Amrapali Gan took over as CEO this winter, she had a decision to make,” Gan’s profile told Time.
“I’m very proud to hug our adult content creators as well as all of our other creators,” Gan told the magazine. “Under her leadership, OnlyFans has launched a safety and transparency center and the platform’s popularity continues to boom,” it said.
Gan, who is from Mumbai, joined OnlyFans, a fast-growing subscription-based content company, in 2020 as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
Since its inception in 2016, OnlyFans has made a name for itself as a platform for hosting adult material. The company gained attention during the pandemic when many adult content producers switched to it due to the lockdown.
Before joining OnlyFans, the 36-year-old communicator gained experience in the rapidly developing consumer goods and services sector.
