Fun Halloween activities, Austin-themed treats for people of all ages

There is so much to do on Halloween and especially this year as the holiday falls on a weekend.

Several locations in and around Austin host special events like puppy costume competitions and trick or treating for adults, or have special treats and offers, so there is definitely something for everyone.

Below are the highlights of some of the things to look at.

COSMIC HALLOWEEN IN THE COSMIC COFFEE + BEER GARDEN

The event will take place on October 28th and will be hosted by Austin’s own DJ Mel. The festivities begin at 4 p.m., followed by a costume contest for dogs and their owners at 6:30 p.m.

Participants have the chance to win special Cosmic, Shakey Graves and Roughhouse Merch prizes.

From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Good Party ATX will be on site to conduct free tarot card readings for dogs, with donations going to the Central Texas Food Bank.

Cosmic will also celebrate the release of Roughhouse Brewings imperial stout, brewed in collaboration with the band Shakey Graves. Shakey Graves Stout is rich and full-bodied with large notes of chocolate, a hint of toffee and candied figs, and at 9.3% vol. it is nicely balanced with roasted cosmic coffee in the finish. Sales at the event will benefit the Central Texas Food Bank. The first 50 people who buy a can of Shakey Graves Stout will receive a free YETI Colster with an individual brand.

In addition to the festivities, guests can snap photos in their annual fall squash field and sip their updated fall coffee and cocktail menu.

UGLY DOG COMPETITION IN JO’S DOWNTOWN

It is the 4th annual competition for all dogs that might look a little “crawl”. You can submit your dog in one of three categories: ugliest dog, best costume, and best in show. 100% of each $ 10 entry fee goes to the Austin Humane Society and submissions can be made online prior to in-person judging on October 31st.

SOUTH CONGRESS CANDY & COCKTAIL CRAWL

It’ll be just treats, not tricks, as the venues along South Congress Avenue take part in a boozy foray on Halloween night, presented by MML Hospitality and Bunkhouse.

The event starts at 4:00 p.m. and children are given candy, while adults are given cocktails for purchase, served in collection cups.

HALLOWEEN IN THE ICE MUSEUM

The Museum of Ice Cream is celebrating Halloween with limited time offers from October 28th to 31st. His 12 magical installations are transformed into an enchanted city with “spooky” ice cream specialties that are offered throughout the experience.

GHOST CITY TOURS AND THE DRISKILL HOTEL

For history buffs looking to step back in time and immerse themselves in the haunted tales of one of Austin’s most “witty” places, guests can book now The Ghost City Tours package in the legendary downtown hotel.

During the tour, participants hear stories such as the story of Jesse Driskill (who built the hotel in 1886) and who is apparently still visiting the hotel today. Driskill is still noticeable through the scent of its cigar smoke and party-goers in elaborate ball gowns and tuxedos have been spotted walking out of the hotel’s elevators – on nights when there were no galas on the premises.

The historic hotel, which just last month unveiled the renovation of 14 guest suites by architect Clayton Korte, is offering this package for the pre-Halloween season. EVO ENTERTAINMENT

At the Austin, Schertz, New Braunfels and San Marcos locations, families can enjoy “Pumpkins & Popcorn” with a special demonstration of on Saturday October 30th Scoob! at 11 a.m. Tickets for the event include a wooden pumpkin, painting and decorating supplies, and a popcorn and candy snack bag. Limited tickets are available for purchase here.

Selected locations also offer themed cocktails for the rest of October, including a pumpkin milkshake that can be made with or without alcohol.

BOO BASH ON THE LAWN OF THE HILL COUNTRY GALLERIA

The Hill Country Galleria is hosting a Halloween event on October 30th from 12pm to 4pm in the Central Plaza Lawn. Guests can enjoy children’s entertainer Joe McDermott, balloon artist, characters in costumes, Halloween treat bags (while supplies last) and much more.

Guests are encouraged to dress up in their best costume in order to enter the virtual costume contest and win a special surprise. Kim Ortiz Photos will host a dog costume contest so furry friends are welcome too.

DREAMLAND: PUMPKIN PATCH & HALLOWEEN BASH

Check out the on-site pumpkin patch every day, where adults and children alike can buy a pumpkin and get 50% off a round of mini golf.

On October 30th, Halloween Bash offers a performance by the band Hair Metal Giants as well as a costume competition for all ages, live face / body painting, pumpkin painting and other surprises.

CHAPARRAL ICE ON THE CROSSOVER

Chaparral Ice, in The crossover, will host Thriller Chiller on Saturday, October 30th from 4pm. The family-friendly event will get guests in the spooky mood and includes a free haunted house to explore and Trunk-R treatment to stock up on your favorite Halloween treats. In addition, young and old can take part in a costume contest, in which the winners receive a family 4-pack of skate passes.

Guests can strap on a pair of ice skates during the public skate session from 4:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. or join the NA3HL late skate session from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., compete against the Texas Road Runners at 7:30 p.m. at. Anyone who buys a ticket for public skating receives a $ 2 discount on their Austin Ice Bats tickets.

TIKI TIGER AT EASY TIGER EAST

Go around on the terrace Easy Tiger East on 1501 E 7th Street for tropical drinks and specialties with a Halloween twist. Items include a Witch Doctors Brew, a coconut kettle, and a Ghost Tiger Toastie.

The specials will be offered on October 31st from 4 p.m.

OLD THOUSAND

Head to the restaurant’s East 11th location on Halloween weekend October 29th and 30th for a Goth Night menu. The menu is a gritty celebration of all things dark and desolate, including Charcoal Beyond Goth Gyoza, Sacrificial Lamb Bao, Abattoir Blues Noodles, and adorable cocktails for a limited time.

2. STREET DISTRICT

Bring your furry friend over Much love, Titos all dressed up in their Howl-o-ween costume for a fun surprise! Titos is offering free bandanas for dressed up puppies on Saturday October 30th from 11am to 3pm

Upstairs Circus is offering a Spooky Season Special by adding new designs and drinks to the menus this season. Her new Halloween drinks include Circus Chata, Big Top Fizz, Sour Ringleader, and The Flamin ‘Apple! Check out their schedule on your website for more information and details on upcoming events.

TRACE in W Austin will provide a photogenic and fun experience for friends with witch-like liquid nitrogen cocktails. The main cocktail consists of a Brazilian spirit known as cran caipirinha.

BAKERY LORRAINE IN DOMAIN NOTHSIDE

From October 28th to October 31st, Lorraine bakery offers a special Halloween menu.

The menu includes a black cat tart made from chocolate mousse with vanilla filling, a lemon mamatart made from lemon curd with meringue and two chocolate chips for the mummy’s eyes, a voodoo doll gingerbread biscuit made from gingerbread dipped rich dark chocolate and more.

TWANG

To celebrate Halloween on October 31st, Texas salt and spice company Twang has a themed cocktail for you to enjoy at home Twang-A-Rita nectarberry.

The cocktail is appropriately named Witch’s Brew and consists of 2 ounces of cinnamon liqueur, 3/4 pomegranate syrup, 3 ounces of apple cider, and with champagne for a single serving. If you’re looking to party with a larger group, their punch recipe consists of 16 ounces of cinnamon liqueur, 6 ounces of pomegranate syrup, 24 ounces of apple cider, and 1 full 750 ml bottle of champagne.
