July 1

4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – The Lutheran Church of St. John in Napoleon serves a hodgepodge of homemade dishes. Implementations possible. $ 9 per adult. Info: 812-852-4416.

8:00 p.m. – Fireworks accompanied by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at Bill Gillespie Soccer Park, 922 Delaware Road, Batesville. Free and open to the public.

3rd of July

8 a.m. – Registration opens for the Rushville Breakfast Optimist Club’s 34th Annual Auto Show at North Veterans Memorial Park. Event in rain or shine with awards in the afternoon. The proceeds will go to Rush County’s youth programs. More information: 317-752-2073 or [email protected].

10.00 am – First Church of God and LifeLine Wesleyan are holding a “Hands of Hope” raffle in the LifeLine Wesleyan, 2002 Moscow Road, Greensburg.

10:00 am to 12:00 pm – Milroy Community Food Pantry at Milroy Elementary School. This is a drive-thru event for anyone in need.

11:30 am – Batesville Area Arts Council unveils its Umbrella Sky Project of Portugal international art exhibition near Village Green Park in downtown Batesville (on the corner of W. Boehringer and N. Main Streets). Open to the public.

The Decatur District Historical Society Museum is open on July 3rd from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on July 4th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The museum is also open Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To visit the museum at another time, call 812-663-2764 or email [email protected].

4th of July

1 p.m. – Tri Kappa is planning / organizing this year’s parade on July 4th in Greensburg. Participants can line up between 12.15 p.m. and 12.30 p.m. For more information, see Tuesday’s Daily News.

July 6th

8:00 a.m. – Decatur County Commissioners will meet in Room 106 of the Decatur County Courthouse. Open to the public.

17th July

Classmates, family, and friends of the 1980 Rushville Consolidated High School Class are invited to gather in Rushville for reminiscence and celebration. At 7 p.m. the concert of All My Rowdy Friends (Hank Jr. Tribute) will take place in the Riverside Park Amphitheater in the south of the city. Bring a deck chair and visit the reunification tent.

7:00 PM – Complimentary concert at Rushville’s Riverside Park Amphitheater with All My Rowdy Friends, a tribute band directed by Hank Williams Jr .. Free parking and shuttle service from nearby parking lots and on-site providers are also available.

11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Federal goods are distributed only to residents of Rush County at the Rushville Pantry at 109 E. Third Street.

RUSHfest in Rushville’s Riverside Park. A variety of activities topped off by an evening concert featuring Electric Avenue-The ’80s MTV Experience, playing hits made famous by music videos from the period. The concert, as well as nearby parking spaces and a shuttle service to and from the concert venue are free!
