“We want to show solidarity with our people in Cuba, who suffer because they gather peacefully here in our country, which grants us the freedoms they are so desperately looking for,” said the Facebook description of the event. “We need our freedom-loving Americans of all races, creeds, and nationalities to come out and show their support.”

Juan Perez holds the Cuban flag as he waits for the rally to begin in Palm Coast on Friday, July 15, 2021.

Those who want to take part are invited to bring Cuban flags or to make posters with the words “Viva Cuba Libre”, “SOS Cuba” or “Freedom for Cuba”.

Recently, thousands of people took to the streets across Cuba to protest the government and demand reform.

The demonstrations began more than a week ago in response to the shortage of basic goods and services, deteriorating living conditions and the rising number of coronavirus cases.
