We would like to thank the sponsors of the event: Entergy, MCT Credit Union and Bolton CDJR. As we celebrate our nation’s birthday, we must thank the brave men and women who have secured and protected our country and its freedoms.

And follow the city’s Facebook pages: “The City of Nederland, TX”, “Nederland Police Department”, “Nederland Fire Rescue”, “Nederland Recreation Center”, “Marion & Ed Hughes Public Library” and “Nederland Animal Shelter” “.

Keep in mind that the city offers several opportunities to keep our youth and community busy this summer. The Nederland Swimming Pool is open in the park department. OPEN SWIM times are now Tuesday to Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The rock wall and the new water slide are available this pool season.

The recreation center is open to the public. New training stations have been installed along the hiking trail in Doornbos Park.

The summer reading program is running in the library. Information on the programs in the library can be found at ned.lib.tx.us.

Transparency is vital in government. Regarding financial transparency, the city’s website has a page that ensures that the public is informed about taxes, city finances, debts, etc. (https://www.ci.nederland.tx.us/page/financemain_transparency ).

The city council meetings take place every second and fourth Monday of the month from 4.30 p.m.

For citizens who cannot attend the meetings in person, the city will continue to broadcast the meeting online.

In August, the City Manager will host the third City Hall meeting, which will focus on the city’s proposed budget and tax rate; a time and date are still pending.

The city will endeavor to continue to focus on ensuring that the community is informed of the city’s activities, projects, etc., and that a line of communication is open to receive public input.
