How we picked the best third-party Minecraft server hosts

Angela Lang / CNET

It’s important to note that we didn’t explicitly “test” the Minecraft hosting provider options on this list. Instead, we’ve created a competitive summary based on a variety of factors, including third-party reviews and features offered by each hosting company. We also weighted the rankings of these companies by the Better Business Bureau and TrustPilot. With this data we divide it into two levels:

Best Minecraft Hosting Providers (Top Tier): These Minecraft host providers all have a rating of A or higher from the nonprofit Better Business Bureau (except in cases where the companies are based outside of North America and are not on the BBB ranking) and a rating of 4.0 or higher from 5 from TrustPilot, a Danish consumer reviews website. All TrustPilot rankings are based on at least 1,000 user reviews. All of the vendors listed in our top picks also state that they offer 24/7 support and Modpack support.

Other Minecraft hosting options to consider (second tier): All of these Minecraft host providers have TrustPilot ratings of 4.0 or higher; However, these ratings are based on fewer than 1,000 user ratings. One – Nodecraft – has a D + rating of BBB. The others either have Ace or higher or no BBB side because of their location.

Important reservations: The Better Business Bureau is not affiliated with any government agency and does not evaluate companies outside of North America. To become BBB accredited, companies pay a fee to the organization. TrustPilot now also offers a paid tier that allows companies to interact more with their user reviews. In addition, 2.2 million fake reviews were removed in 2020.

A note on pricing: We have made every effort to verify that the prices listed here were correct at the time of last posting. However, the prices in this category are subject to frequent fluctuations and are also subject to special offers and limited deals. In addition, many of the prices listed here reflect the monthly rates when you prepay for 12 months of service – or they are limited-time introductory prices. Please check the respective vendors to check the prices at any given time.
